home buyer I had a reminder recently of the stigma facing those dealing with trauma related to childhood abuse.  I have encountered this before of course, perhaps vicariously, during my 20 plus years in the trauma treatment trenches.  As a psychologist specializing in treating trauma I am well aware that many people do not want to be reminded of the less than pleasant aspects of life.  Even mentioning what I do for a living can get me interesting responses, or sometimes just shut down the conversation altogether.

Someone unfollowed me on Twitter, and wrote to inform me,  because I was not a “positive psychologist”. This took me aback  and I tried to understand what led to that impression.  I looked through my most recent Twitter postings to try to see what they saw.  I had been posting, as I always do, about the impact of trauma and had recently written an article about how childhood experiences are linked to adult problems: Childhood Wounds: Understanding Yourself in Context.

juegos Make a appointment right away to speak with your child’s teacher. It is best to do this in person, so do not write a note or give any details to the person at the school that schedules the appointments for you. You will want to make sure you can sit down with the teacher in a comfortable and familiar setting to discuss this important issue.

home building Include your child in every part of this process. You do not want your son or daughter to feel left out, or to feel like the adults in their life are talking about them and their delicate situation behind their back. That could leave emotional scars for years to come.

Be prepared to spend time every day addressing the issues and situations that arise from attention deficit. Your child is changing every day, both physically and emotionally, so this is bound to cause confusion and situations that will need to be discussed openly by your family as well as the school. Your child’s teacher is an important part of this and must be included in the discussion.

I am convinced that teaching children to be responsible for their actions is one of the best ways of disciplining any kid whether he has ADHD or not. It is also one of the best treatments for ADHD out there. It is no accident that the British government is setting funds aside to teach parents of problem kids, these very skills. When this is combined with ADHD homeopathic remedies, there are often much more successful outcomes, than with psychostimulants alone
